Nottingham Comedy Festival / NCF Entertainment
As well as media I am a huge fan of comedy and in 2009 I co-founded the Nottingham Comedy Festival, in which I am now sole Director . The first festival took place between the 30th October and the 7th November 2009. It featured 50 acts in 10 venues over 9 days. Featuring Stand-up, Improvisaton, Plays, Workshops, Script Writing and Performance Poetry. The second festival took place between the 24th September and the 4th October 2010 and was even bigger than the previous year. 2010 had 57 shows in 14 venues over 11 days. Acts included: Patrick Monahan, Comedy Store Players, Jim Sweeney, MissImp, Jason and Colin Manford, Armstrong and Miller, The Glee Club, Jongleurs, Funhouse Comedy, Andy White, Stand-up Shakespeare and many more. We were sponsored by Castle Rock Brewery, Enterprise Inc and IMTS and are media partnered with Trent FM.
The 2011 festival is taking place 23rd September - 1st October. - this year featuring the likes of: Tom Stade, Reginald D. Hunter, Isy Suttie, Alfie Moore, Shazia Mirza, Zoe Lyons, Nathan Caton and many more.
As well as the annual event I also hold monthly shows - NCF Comedy Night, NCF Ward End, NCF Normanton and Pub Poetry. The aim of these events is to bring more comedy into the city and give people the chance to get involved. Pub Poetry is an alternative night of light hearted poetry and short stories. I am always looking for new venues to take comedy to so if you would like to have comedy at your venue then please get in touch with me at my festival address: helen@nottscomedyfestival.co.uk
